ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA :

Applicants for the HPSC HCS Civil Judge Examination must verify that they meet all eligibility requirements for admission. Their participation in all stages of the examination will be considered provisional until they fulfil the specified eligibility conditions. These criteria generally encompass the candidate's nationality, age limits and educational qualifications. Here, we outline the HPSC HCS 2024 Eligibility Criteria:

NATIONALITY

To be eligible for HPSC HCS Civil Judge Examination, a candidate must fall into one of the following categories:

(a) A citizen of India

(b) A subject of Nepal

(c) A subject of Bhutan

(d) A Tibetan refugee who arrived in India before 1 January 1962, intending to settle permanently

(e) A person of Indian origin who migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries (Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia), or Vietnam with the intention of permanent settlement in India.

AGE LIMIT :

The candidate should not be less than 2l years and not more than 42 years of age, on or before 31.01.2024.

MINIMUM EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS :

No person shall be eligible to be appointed a Civil Judge (Junior Division) unless he holds a degree of Bachelor of Laws from a University establishetl by the law and approved/recognized by the Bar Council of India on or before closing date i.e. 31.01.2024.

The expression "Degree of Bachelor of Laws" means a degree entitling a candidate to be enrolled as an Advocate under the Advocates Act, 1961 , and the rules rnade there under. The candidates should hold the degree of bachelor of Law on or before the closing date for submission of online application form i.e. 31.01.2024.

APPLICATION PROCESS

Haryana Public Service Commission Civil Judge 2024 position application form is available on the HPSC’s website and candidates must apply online within the stipulated time, which is 05 to 31 January 2024. Below are the steps to apply for the HPSC Civil Judge 2024 Recruitment:-

  1. Visit the official website of the HPSC.
  2. On the homepage, you will get a tab of Advertisement with a link with the title “Advt. No. 01 of 2024 - HCS (Judicial Branch) Examination 2023-2024” prompts on the screen.
  3. Click on the link and you will be directed to the application portal, where you must enter your details to complete the application form.
  4. Once you have entered your details, upload the required documents in the needed format and submit the application form to pay the application fee.
  5. Pay the application fee according to your category and take a  printout of the final submission for future reference.

SELECTION PROCESS

The selection process for HCS (Judicial Branch) involves a three-stage examination:

  1. PRELIMINARY EXAMINATION - A screening test with objective-type multiple-choice questions, distinct from the Main Written Examination which is subjective/narrative. OMR Sheets (Answer Sheets) will be computer-scanned.
  2. MAIN WRITTEN EXAMINATION - The Main Written Exam will comprise five written papers. 
  3. VIVA-VOCE - Aimed at assessing candidates' personal qualities. This session addresses matters of general interest and evaluates candidates' alertness, intelligence and overall perspective. The viva voce is conducted in English.

EXAM PATTERN

Before candidates apply for the HPSC HCS Exam 2024, they should check the Judicial Branch Exam Pattern to check the number of questions and marks of the exam. Below, we are detailing the Prelims and Mains Exam Pattern 2024:-

PRELIMINARY EXAM

  • Candidates must complete the examination within two hours.
  • It comprises 125 questions, each carrying 0.1 marks.
  • For every incorrect answer, 0.8 marks or 20% (1/5th) of a mark will be deducted.
  • The objective exam has multiple-choice questions, offering five options (A, B, C, D, and E) per question.
  • Candidates must darken the appropriate circle (A, B, C, or D) if attempting a question, while 'E' must be darkened if not attempting. Failure to darken any of the five circles will result in a deduction of one-fifth (0.8 marks).

MAIN EXAM

  • The Main Examination will comprise five written papers, all of which will be subjective/narrative.
  • It will be conducted in English medium, except for the language paper.
  • Each written paper will have a duration of three hours.
