Panjab University's Centre for Distance and Online Education (CDOE), formerly USOL, has opened admissions for the B.Ed. (Correspondence) Session 2026-28. This two-year, four-semester programme is recognized by the NCTE and offers 800 seats. Here is everything you need to know before you apply.

WHO CAN APPLY: ELIGIBILITY CONDITIONS (AS PER NCTE NORMS 2014)

You are eligible only if you fall into one of these two categories: 

• Trained in-service teachers in elementary education, holding a Diploma/ Certificate in primary/elementary teacher training, who also hold a graduation or post-graduation degree in humanities/ science/ social science/ commerce with minimum 50% marks (55% for engineering/technology graduates with science and mathematics specialisation).

• Candidates who completed an NCTE-recognized teacher training programme through face-to-face mode (even if not currently teaching), provided they meet the same 50%/55% marks criteria.

ADMISSION CRITERIA

Admission to all 800 seats is purely merit-based, using marks obtained in the qualifying examination. There is no entrance test.

HOW TO APPLY: STEP-BY-STEP

1. Register online at cdoebed.puchd.ac.in and save your login ID and password.

2. Log in and fill the online application form; upload your photograph and signature.

3. Pay the online registration fee.

4. Log in again and download the printout of the filled form.

5. Post the signed printout with self-attested document copies to: The AR (Admission), Room No. 107, Centre for Distance and Online Education, Sector-14, Panjab University, Chandigarh, PIN 160014 — by August 11, 2026.

6. Check the tentative merit list on the website on the scheduled date.

7. Attend face-to-face counselling; study centres are allotted by merit order based on your preferences. Once allotted, the study centre cannot be changed.

8. Pay the first instalment of course fee online — admission is confirmed only after this payment.

9. Create your ABC ID and then DEB ID (mandatory) using a self-attested Aadhar copy. Details: deb.ugc.ac.in/StudentDEBId

REGISTRATION/COUNSELLING FEES

• Rs. 1,000/- (General) for registration;

• Rs. 500/- (SC/ST/PwD) for registration;

• Rs. 500/- counselling fee (non-refundable, paid at counselling)

Fees are accepted online only — no DD, cash, or cheque.

POST MATRIC SCHOLARSHIP (SC CANDIDATES, PUNJAB)

SC candidates from Punjab with family income below Rs. 2.5 lakh pay only 25% of the total admission fee (excluding examination fee) — Rs. 10,980/- for Semester I. Required documents include the Free Ship Card, online scholarship form, income certificate, caste certificate, residence proof, Aadhar copies, and OTR certificate, all via scholarship.punjab.gov.in.

STUDY MATERIAL AND PERSONAL CONTACT PROGRAMME (PCP)

• Study material is provided in English medium only.

• Every semester requires 10 days of PCP at your allotted study centre, in blended mode (10 offline classes + 5 online classes).

• 80% attendance is mandatory — falling short means your examination roll number will not be issued.
