Why did American companies receive letters from people ?
In the 1960s and 1970s, jeans of all kinds became a rage in university and college campuses and with the hippy movement- students and young people wore painted jeans, patterned jeans, embroidered jeans....! In many non-western countries, jeans represented the free, consumerist culture of the West. They were very hard to get in most other countries. American companies said that they often received letters from people all around the world requesting them for a pair of jeans. From the 1970s, jeans started to be made available in countries around the world. Jeans became cheaper and more and more people started wearing them. In the 1980s, jeans finally became high fashion clothing when famous designers started making many styles of jeans with their own labels on them. Faded and tom jeans became another popular new trend with young people. The sales of jeans went up and up ! Jeans are still very popular and are an essential part of everyone’s wardrobe-young and old. They have become a universal fashion that is not likely to fade out anytime soon!
