The universal recipient blood group is AB.
People with blood type AB have both A and B antigens on the surface of their red blood cells, which means that they can receive blood from donors with any blood type without their immune system reacting against it. This is because they have both A and B antibodies in their plasma that can recognize and destroy any foreign red blood cells.
In contrast, people with blood type O have neither A nor B antigens on their red blood cells, and therefore, they can only receive blood from donors with the same blood type (i.e., type O). People with blood types A and B can receive blood from donors with the same blood type and from donors with type O, but not from donors with the other blood type.
