Explanation
In India, a Judge of the High Court holds office till he or she attains the age of 62 years. This is prescribed under Article 217(1) of the Indian Constitution, which states that a High Court Judge shall hold office until he or she attains the age of 62 years. However, a High Court Judge may also resign from his or her office by writing to the President of India. The President may also remove a High Court Judge from office in accordance with the procedure laid down in the Constitution, which includes an inquiry and the passing of a resolution by Parliament.
